Bio
I fell into floral design by accident, my chosen fields were Architecture or Paramedic. During the summer after graduating high school, I had accident with a coffee truck. The result was I needed another job, thankfully my boyfriend's family owned a shop at the time. Once there, I fell in love with the industry and it's creativity and passion of speaking for others through flowers. I own Designing on the Edge 20+ years, teach floral design at Mount Royal University 18+ years. I have been competing for 30+ years, however seriously for 15 years. Local, provincial, national and internationally, with many awards from all categories. I compete for the love of creativity, learning and sharing with like minded artists.
What Is Your Approach To Design?
The what? What is the theme? I always approach this first. Next the parameters must be addressed, especially in competition work. One word can send my mind spinning with possibilities... sketching begins, no holding back! It's simple, 'If you conceive it, and you believe it, you will achieve it'. Most importantly, I am competing against myself to do the best I can.
What Do You Love About Competing?
I LOVE the challenge! The adrenaline in competition is like experiencing a floral high of creativity :-)
