Linda's journey began when she was 12 in the idyllic countryside of France, where she was nurtured by her rich French and Portuguese heritage, spending her formative years amidst a tapestry of blooming flowers and verdant gardens. It was here that her deep-rooted connection to nature first took hold.

A pivotal moment occurred when Linda acquired her very first floral design art book. With each page turned, she fell head over heels for the enchanting world of floral design, an art form that spoke directly to her heart, channelling a symphony of emotions into every petal, stem, and arrangement. Fueling her thirst for knowledge, Linda embarked on a path of horticultural discovery, acquiring a master's degree in horticulture, and the commercialization of plants and flowers as well as a Bachelor in Floral Design.

Her commitment to understanding the very essence of the botanical world was unwavering. Her quest for expertise knew no bounds, leading her to traverse the globe and eventually make Canada her home for the past decade. Here, she added landscaping design to her repertoire, seamlessly blending it with her flourishing floral design skills.

Linda Rambaud is a true aficionado of the natural world and the artistry it inspires. She has artfully intertwined her twin passions, emerging as a Master Floral Designer, a sought-after freelancer, and an inspiring educator. The culmination of her efforts materialized through Lindara Design, a creative floral solutions company Lindara Design. Operating from the picturesque region of Victoria, BC, Canada, Linda extends her services across western Canada and Europe, where she conducts freelance work, hosts illuminating floral design workshops, and imparts her wisdom in captivating floral design classes. Her artistic repertoire even extends to crafting exquisite floral jewellery and original floral designs, a testament to her boundless creativity.

Linda's dedication has earned notable accreditations, including AIFD (American Institute of Floral Design) and CFD (Certified Floral Designer), with her journey in floral artistry marked by the successful completion of the first step of her CAFA (Canadian Academy of Floral Art). Linda's spirit has led her to the forefront of the floral design arena. She has showcased her talents in prestigious competitions, including The Maple Leaf Cup and the Pacific Northwest competition. Her commitment to the floral design and horticultural industry extends far beyond accolades; it's a lifelong pledge to advocate for the beauty of flowers, the expression of art, and the principles of sustainability.

Her involvement is also evident in her active volunteerism at prominent events, notably the Floral Design World Cup in 2020 and 2023. To Linda, floral design is not merely an art form—it's a conduit for expressing emotions and a vehicle for celebrating oneself and the ones we hold dear. Her life's work is a testament to the profound beauty that can be cultivated from the bounty of nature and the deep-seated emotions it can stir in each of us.

What Is Your Approach To Design?

My approach to floral design focuses on a blend of artistry and natural beauty. Here are the key elements I consider:

  • Inspiration from Nature: I draw inspiration from the natural forms, colors, and textures found in the environment. This helps create designs that feel organic and harmonious.
  • Balance and Proportion: Achieving the right balance and proportion is crucial. This involves considering the size, shape, and color of each element to ensure the arrangement is visually pleasing.
  • Seasonality: Using seasonal flowers not only ensures freshness but also brings a sense of time and place to the arrangements. Each season offers unique flowers and foliage that can be highlighted.
  • Color Harmony: Choosing colors that complement each other is essential. I like to experiment with different color palettes, from monochromatic schemes to vibrant contrasts.
  • Texture and Form: Incorporating a variety of textures and forms adds depth and interest to the design.
  • Sustainability: I aim to use sustainable practices, such as sourcing local and organic flowers, minimizing waste, and opting for eco-friendly materials whenever possible.
  • Creativity and Innovation: I strive to push the boundaries of traditional floral design by experimenting with new techniques and ideas, keeping my work fresh and unique.
